IFS Therapy is the primary modality I offer clients. It is a therapeutic approach backed by research and evidence, and it WORKS! I have been Level Two trained by the IFS Institute in the model and in all my years of being a therapist and being a client in therapy, I can confidently tell you that it is one of the most effective therapy approaches to date.
What is it?
The concept of IFS Therapy is that we all have an internal system of parts that help us navigate the world. The classic example...you were invited to a gathering tonight and a part of you wants to go to spend time with your friend, and another part of you is exhausted from the day and wants to stay home and binge TV. These are parts! Some parts of us have been deeply wounded and react to life circumstances with fear, shame, and sadness, while other parts of us have learned how to protectively avoid ever feeling that way again with anxiety, irritability, stress, anger, physical pain, and turning to maladaptive behaviors. The good news is that we all have a deep inner wisdom that we can learn to tap into when these parts of us have become overwhelmed with their job to help us navigate stressors. My job as an IFS therapist will be to help you access this inner wisdom so that you can confidently and calmly handle your problems and reach your goals.
