Modalities
Learn more about the modalities I use below. My primary approach is Internal Family Systems (IFS Therapy); however, I often integrate EMDR, Flash, MI, and CBT into my practice as needed or by the request of my clients when appropriate. All modalities I use have been studied and researched to be effective -- we call this "evidenced based.
IFS
I am a Certified IFS Therapist and I have been Level 2 trained by the IFS Institute in the IFS model which stands for Internal Family Systems. IFS is the most sought-after therapy modality to date for its ability to create healing from within clients on multiple layers. This stand-alone model can be used in addition to other modalities to further enhance healing. See my full page on IFS to learn more.
EMDR
Standing for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, EMDR utilizes bilateral stimulation (think left-right-left-right) in the form of eye movement or taping to work with our brains innate ability to reprocess and desensitize negative life events so we can find relief.
CBT
Standing for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, this tried-and-true model helps clients build the skills needed to identify and challenge the negative belief systems that subconsciously govern our daily behaviors and emotions.
MI
Motivational Interviewing is a modality I use in my practice when clients are experiencing ambiguity about changing to help them gain clarity around their values and ultimately goals.
Flash
Flash combines elements of EMDR and Hypnosis, and is a quick and effective way to decrease distress surrounding past big T and little t trauma memories. This intervention can often be effective in as little as 15 minutes, and many clients appreciate how gentle this intervention is on their system as it does not require them to retell difficult life memories.
