Attachment Wounds
Attachment wounds are emotional injuries that occur when the essential bond between a child and their primary caregiver is disrupted, leading to long-lasting effects on all future relationships and self-perception. These wounds often manifest in adulthood as difficulties with intimacy, trust, and a stable sense of self, stemming from unmet needs during critical developmental stages.
Trauma
Trauma is an emotional response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual's ability to cope, often leading to long lasting psychological impact. It can result from a variety of experiences such as accidents, violence, or natural disasters, and affects each person uniquely, potentially causing symptoms like anxiety, flashbacks, anger, and difficulty sleeping.
Anxiety
Anxiety is a natural emotional response to stress, characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and physical changes like increased blood pressure. It's a normal part of life but can become overwhelming and disruptive when it turns into an anxiety disorder, which involves excessive and persistent worry and fear.
Depression
Depression is a common and serious mood disorder that negatively affects how a person feels, thinks, and acts, often leading to a variety of emotional and physical problems. It is characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, loss of interest in activities, and can significantly impair daily functioning.
Motherhood
Motherhood presents a unique set of challenges, including finding the right balance between providing structure and allowing independence, as children need clear boundaries as well as the freedom to explore. It also involves adapting to the evolving needs of children as they grow, requiring continuous learning and flexibility from parents. It is common for moms to experience a wide range of emotions often triggered by the attachment relationship stemming back from their own experiences in childhood. When this happens it can make it hard for a mother to find the balance of nurturance and structure their child is needing as she is too flooded with her own unhealed hurts. Learn more here.
